An American soldier was killed in action in Baghdad on Monday, the US military said. A statement from the US command said that the soldier died of "combat-related injuries" while on patrol in the Iraqi capital. No further details were released. It was the first combat death reported in Baghdad this month and the first among US forces nationwide since March 7 when a soldier was killed in the Tikrit area.
