Zahar: 'Hamas does not want to conquer the West Bank'

"Hamas does not want to conquer the West Bank," Hamas leader and former PA foreign minister Mahmoud Zahar said Tuesday, denying comments recently attributed to him. In an interview with the London-based Al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper, Zahar said that Hamas had won the Palestinian Legislative Council elections by a clear majority and so it was already in fact in control of the West Bank and had no need to conquer it.
