Man found dead in Sharon; police suspect murder

Police suspect burglars broke into home on Moshav Avichail, repeatedly stabbed landlord when he found them.

A 61-year-old man was stabbed to death when, police suspect, he surprised two burglars who had broken into his house on Moshav Avihayil Monday night.

Sharon District police who arrived at the scene of the murder shortly after 7 p.m.

Monday, reported finding signs of a break-in and a struggle in the house, leading to the conclusion that the homeowner accidentally caught the burglars in the act of robbing him, and during the ensuing struggle was stabbed repeatedly in the upper body.

Magen David Adom paramedics arrived at the house and found the man lying outside.

After a failed attempt to revive him, they pronounced him dead at the scene.

Sharon District police set up roadblocks near the moshav outside Netanya and began combing the area in a scramble to catch the murders.
