Rishon Lezion goes Hollywood with Pessah ‘Cinema Park’

Organizers say park will provide visitors with wide range of activities, lectures meant to give visitors first-of-its-kind experience.

Parents and children alike will get a behind-the-scenes look at the movie industry this Passover with the opening of the “Cinema Park” festival in Rishon Lezion.
Organizers say the park, which will be set up on the city’s seafront promenade from April 20-22, will provide visitors with a wide range of activities and lectures meant to give visitors a first-of-its-kind experience.
The park will be divided by cinematic genre, including an “action” section that organizers say will include special effects and professional stuntmen.
For children and parents who are on more of a Sergio Leone kick, the “western” section will include Wild West-themed activities and food, as well as real-life actors in cowboy and indian gear, also performing stunts.
For a more hair-raising spectacle, organizers say there will be a “superhero” section, with acrobats performing routines on climbing walls and, like Spiderman, on giant webs, and where visitors can have their picture taken with famous superheroes.
Another area of the park will be devoted to musicals, with a giant stage for extravaganzas of song and dance.
The park promises to be an educational experience as well, with a live movie set on hand to give kids the chance to see how a movie is shot.
The section will include replicas of sets from a number of famous Israeli movies.
As not every movie can have a happy ending, if you or your children are fans of art films, foreign films or obscure horror flicks, you may be out of luck.
The Rishon Lezion beachfront park will also play host to a “walk of stars,” with actors and mimes cast as some of Hollywood’s top legends.
The park is the brainchild of the Rishon Lezion municipality and the production company Target Market. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 20 and 21, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
on April 22. Admission will cost slightly more than a ticket to a film, at NIS 50 a pop.
