In a surprising move, Interior Minister Eli Yishai on Tuesday decided to grant temporary residency to a Palestinian girl from Gaza, as well as her father and brother after the girl was injured in an IAF strike in 2006.
The child, Maria Iman, was injured when an IAF missile accidentally hit her family's car in an attempt to carry out a targeted assassination.

Her mother, grandmother, and one of her brothers were killed in the incident, and she was transferred to Israel for medical treatment.
Iman, who was left paralyzed from the injury and remains on a respirator, can not return to Gaza because there is no adequate medical equipment there needed for her condition, said Army Radio.
The IDF looked into the possibility of transferring the girl to Ramallah, but the Palestinian Authority refused to cooperate.
The Defense Ministry then decided to rent an apartment in Abu Ghosh for her and her family, and the interior minister was asked to solve the legal status of the family members in the country.
Yishai agreed to allow them temporary residency, saying it was a special humanitarian case, according to Army Radio.
Maria will now be able to have the Health Ministry fund her medical devices, and she will also be eligible for a health basket, kupat holim, a license to hire a foreign worker to look after her 24 hours a day, and pension funds.
