ANYTHING GOES
Created for the female dancers of the Norwegian dance company Carte Blanche, Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar’s work Killer Pig is being performed in Israel by L-E-V. It toys with the sensual in all its diversity, in minimalist and intense physical expression.

ON THE MOVE The BodyWays festival of dance and music offers dance lovers – professionals and amateurs – three days of workshops, shows and parties, combining music and dance of many genres, from yoga and tango to acrobatics and tribal. There will be many activities for children as well.

4 A DANCER’S LIFE In Another Day, the Batsheva dancers present a peek into the dancers’ world as artists and as individuals.

SHEDDING LIGHT For almost 50 years James Turrell, one of the giants of contemporary art, has been exploring the ways in which light is seen and experienced. Treating light as a material in his impressive and magical works in his spectacular installations, the spiritual and the technological intersect as light is framed, multiplied, altered and isolated. His current exhibition at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem is titled “Light Spaces.”

PEACE MELTDOWN A new exhibition of Israeli artist Benni Efrat, “The Dove, Summer 2062,” includes Peace, an installation made from 14 tons of ice, which melt as the days pass. 7 WOMEN’S QUARTERS A new photography exhibition at the gallery of the Architect House in Old Jaffa offers a glimpse of the thinking and working behind the construction of the women’s sections in synagogues. The photographs, by architect and photographer Adva Naama Baram, feature captivating shots of women’s sections, meticulously planned and improvised, stuck away in a garret-like niche, concealed only by the flimsiest of screens or completely cut off from the men’s section.
