Betar Jerusalem cleared of responsibility for fans' behavior

The Israel Football Association's supreme court accepted the Betar Jerusalem club's appeal on Wednesday and cleared the team of all responsibility for the behavior of fans who shouted and jeered during a moment of silence for slain prime minister Yitzhak Rabin at a match with Maccabi Haifa earlier this month. The judges said in their ruling that despite the unacceptable and embarrassing behavior of some of its fans, Betar could not be blamed for the incident as there was no relevant clause in the association's discipline code that holds a soccer team responsible for its fans.
