While a number of Israel Softball Association games had to be cancelled last week due to the weather, the Dawgs beat Crazy Richard 13-9 and Penticon dropped Ziontours 11-1. Crazy Richard jumped out to an early lead with a four-run first inning behind a key two-RBI hit from Oren Litz. The Dawgs pecked away at the lead behind solid hitting from Yigal Rozval, a triple from Alberto Tacher and a big two-RBI double from newcomer Jeff Weiner to tie the game at 9. Yechezkel Ganz relieved Shmuel Goldstein and shut the door on CR in the fourth inning, while sloppy defense led to the Dawgs' final four runs. Penticon's Ami Baran and Ziontours' Jeff Muoio were locked in a 2-1 pitching duel through four innings but Golan Halley's monstrous triple to deep center in the fifth broke the game open and Baran and Marc Bodner shut down the defending champs' bats the rest of the way.
