Hapoel Galil Elyon announced on Friday that it will be teaming up with the Gilboa Regional Council ahead of next season. Galil owner Haim Ohayon was disappointed with the support his club was getting from its local council and signed a cooperation agreement with Gilboa, which was relegated from the BSL last season as part of the Hapoel Afula/Gilboa team. Galil's merger with Gilboa coincided with the news that Oded Katash will remain as the team's coach. Katash seemed to destined to make a move to Ironi Nahariya, but a late change of mind means he will be at the helm of the side once again at the start of next season. Katash rejoined Galil last season after four torturous months at Maccabi Tel Aviv and helped the side avoid relegation. The former Maccabi superstar originally signed for the yellow-and-blue after guiding Galil to the Final Four in the 2006/07 season.
