Maccabi Tel Aviv notched up its second straight league win under Tzvika Sherf on Monday night, thrashing Ironi Nahariya 104-70 at the Nokia Arena. A week after defeating Maccabi Rishon Lezion by 26 points, Maccabi proved once more on Monday that it's leaps and bounds ahead of most BSL teams. Tel Aviv never trailed against Nahariya and its star players received plenty of rest ahead of the Euroleague game against AJ Milano on Thursday. "The players are playing with a lot of enthusiasm and it's showing in our results," Sherf said. "The team is in good shape and also in good spirits." Lior Eliyahu, who has barely played since Sherf's arrival, scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, with Esteban Batista adding 16 points. Ido Kozikaro scored 16 points for Nahariya, which has now lost three straight league games. Two straight three-pointers to start the game gave the Maccabi an early 6-0 lead, but Otis Hill's two points would tie the score at 19-19. The hosts, however, would score the last eight points of the first quarter and Terence Morris' triple to beat the buzzer opened a 27-19 lead. Maccabi continued to surge ahead in the second period, extending its margin to 17 points (47-30) after Eliyahu's basket. Omri Casspi's three at the buzzer gave Tel Aviv a 55-38 halftime lead and rendered the second half of the encounter meaningless.
