Maccabi Tel Aviv completed its roster for the upcoming season on Saturday, adding American Doron Perkins and Gal Mekel to the team. Perkins and Mekel are both expected to back up Andrew Wisniewski in the pointguard position, giving Maccabi plenty of options in the back-court. Perkins, 26, starred for Maccabi Haifa last season, averaging 15.8 points, 5.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds, while leading the team to the BSL and State Cup finals. Mekel signed a long-term contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv late in the 2007/08 season after returning to Israel from two years at Wichita State. Last season he played at Hapoel Galil/Gilboa on-loan and shined under the guidance of coach Oded Katash, averaging 13.3 points, 3.9 assists and 2.3 rebounds in the playoffs and Final Four.
