The Israel Cricket League is set for another season, and once again, it will be decided under the lights.
The games – which will run twice a month on either Thursday or Saturday nights from November to March – will be taking place in Modi’in and are modified to make an action-packed, free-flowing game.
Modeled along the lines of indoor cricket, there are eight players per team and each play bowls for two and bats for four overs. If you are out you lose five runs but keep batting.
Games last 90 minutes and are good for those who miss playing the game, but don’t have an entire day to commit to it.
Israel cricket’s Herschel Gutman is not surprised by the massive
groundswell of interest in the league, which was a brainchild of his.
“We have over a dozen teams register interest in playing, although none
from the Jerusalem area. It would be nice if we had some representation
from the nation’s capital,” he told the Jerusalem Post
. “By having the games in Modi’in, they are accessible to everyone regardless of where you are coming from.”
