Shahar Pe'er won her first match in a month on Monday, defeating Petra Cetkovska 6-3, 6-4 in the Korea Open in Seoul.
The 21-year-old Israeli, who fell a further two places to No. 37 in the world on Monday, hadn't won since the first round of the Olympic tournament in Beijing and will next face the winner of the match between Ayumi Morita and Arantxa Rus in the second round.
Pe'er is seeded second in the Tier IV $145,000 event in Korea and will be looking to progress past the second round of a tournament for just the second time in her last 11 attempts.
Meanwhile, Dudi Sela left for Beijing on Monday ahead of his participation in the China Open. Sela, who dropped one place to No. 92 in the world in Monday's rankings, will face Nicolas Devilder (61) in the first round and will be hoping to build on this weekend's success in the Davis Cup.
Sela won both his singles matches in the World Group playoff against Peru, guaranteeing Israel's place in the elite grouping of top 16 nations.
