Andy Ram will look to join the select company of those on the court with him when he joins Vera Zvonareva to face Katarina Srebotnik and Nenad Zimonjic for a spot in the finals of the mixed doubles at the French Open on Thursday. The Israeli will be the only player in action without a Grand Slam mixed doubles crown to his name. Ram and Zvonareva also represent the only unseeded pair to reach the semifinals of the event. But even though they are teaming together for the first time, their seperate, yet rich history on the court could be enough against the No. 8 seeded Slovenian/Serbian team they're facing. Ram is more than familiar with the play of Srebotnik and Zimonjic, who defeated Gisela Dulko of Argentina and Fernando Gonzalez of Chile in a lengthy match 6-7(5), 6-4, 9-7 in Wednesday's quarterfinal, as they have met in each of the last two Grand Slams. Earlier this year Ram and Liezel Huber edged Srebotnik and Zimonjic 7-5, 7-6(9) in the opening round at the Australian Open, while last year Srebotnik and Zimonjic were 6-1, 7-5 victors over Ram and Dinara Safina in the US Open semifinals. The match is set to be the fourth of the day on the Suzanne Lenglen court. Bob Bryan, who teamed with Zvonareva to win the 2004 US Open, and the legendary Martina Navratilova, who had a hand in beating Ram in the 2003 Wimbledon final, face No. 7 seeds Elena Likhovtseva and Daniel Nestor in the other semifinal. The final is slated for Friday afternoon.
