MK Mofaz: Interim agreement must be reached

In an interview with the The Jerusalem Post’s political correspondent Gil Hoffman, MK Shaul Mofaz calls the previous 10-month moratorium a “strategic mistake” and fears that it will result in preconditions becoming a prerequisite to all future negotiations.

Mofaz commends the Obama administration for abandoning its efforts in seeking another moratorium, saying that it is now imperative that the negotiations become the central issue and not the preconditions.
Currently, Mofaz is in Washington trying to sell a diplomatic plan which calls for forming a Palestinian state with interim borders in 60 percent of the West Bank while beginning negotiations on the borders of the final 40%.
Mofaz told Hoffman that moving forward with an interim agreement can change the atmosphere and the attitude of the international community to Israel.
