Evangelical leader Laurie Cardoza-Moore has accused three Congresswomen of being “actively engaged in a Goebbels-style media propaganda war in order to rewrite history.”
Paul Joseph Goebbels was a German Nazi politician and one of Adolf Hitler's closest and most devoted associates.
On Monday, Cardoza-Moore, the head of Proclaiming Justice to The Nations (PJTN), added the names of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and Rashida Tlaib to the organization’s petition against Ilhan Omar, calling on the government to remove the three women from Congress. The petition has already amassed tens of thousands of signatures.
Cardoza-Moore called out AOC for “trivializing the memory of the Holocaust” when she tweeted a statement by Pastor Martin Niemöller in defense of Omar, who Cardoza-Moore has accused of being an antisemite and a supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group.
“The statement AOC quoted was written by Niemöller who lived under the Nazi regime and used his influence to defend the innocent victims of his government,” explained Cardoza-Moore in a statement. “In contrast, Ilhan Omar is a collaborator of the Muslim Brotherhood, which historically supported the Nazis then, and is aggressively seeking the destruction of Israel and America now.”
AOC’s tweet appeared on April 13, after President Trump tweeted a video of Omar belittling the 9/11 attacks at a Muslim Brotherhood fundraising event. Omar described the terror attack as “some people, did something.”
“If Ocasio-Cortez is going to quote someone from the Nazi-era to support Omar, she needs to quote a Nazi collaborator,” said Cardoza-Moore. “Niemöller was against the Nazis and used his influence to mobilize the Germans against them.”
The Evangelical Christian, whose “Focus on Israel” program Focus reaches a weekly global audience of more than 2 billion viewers in 200 nations, said herself is a descendant of Sephardic Jewish immigrants, like AOC. As such, she said she finds AOC’s misguided comments even more problematic.
“Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a traitor to her Sephardic Jewish ancestors and the memory of all of us from Hispania whose ancestors were tortured and murdered during the Spanish Inquisition,” said Cardoza-Moore. “Her tweet equating the president’s criticism of Ilhan Omar with Nazi-era Jews facing extermination by the Third Reich is absolutely pathetic. Not only was her statement not befitting of a U.S. lawmaker, but it is also an embarrassment to our ancestors and shows her lack of education. She needs to stand down and Americans of Hispanic/Latino descent need to join me in calling her out.”
She accused AOC, Omar and Tlaib of “waging an unholy war in Congress” and of making efforts to belittle the Holocaust, normalize antisemitism and whitewash Islamism.
“We the people, especially women of Hispanic-Latino descent, will not idly stand by as subversive forces openly work to destroy our country from within,” Cardoza-Moore said.
