Italian activist injured by IDF fire in West Bank demonstration, Palestinian media says

IDF confirms that it fired on and hit two demonstrators in Kafr Qaddum.

An Italian activist, who was taking part in a protest in the West Bank on Friday afternoon was critically injured by IDF gunfire on Friday, Palestinian news outlet Ma'an reported. 
According to the report, the activist, identified as thirty-year-old Prodo Corsi, was shot several times in the stomach and chest. 
The protest on Friday took place in Kafr Qaddum, where according to the report, there are weekly demonstrations against Israel's closure of a main road linking the village to the nearby city of Nablus. 
Responding to the report, the IDF Spokesperson said that IDF forces were in the village Friday to face the demonstration of around 100 protesters who were throwing stones and burning tires. The IDF said they were also confronted with masked rioters using slingshots. The forces first tried to disperse the crowd using riot dispersal measures but when this failed they opened fire with small caliber Ruger bullets.
The IDF confirmed that it fired on and hit two of the demonstrators who were evacuated by Red Crescent ambulance. It said it was investigating the matter.
