Tibi tells Jordan's parliament: Israel doesn’t support a Palestinian state

Tibi returned from his three-day visit to Jordan on Sunday and was the first Arab MK officially invited to visit the Jordanian parliament.

Joint List MK Ahmad Tibi told The Jerusalem Post on Monday that on his recent visit to Jordan he told the parliamentary committee on “Palestine” that Israel does not support the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Tibi returned from his three-day visit to Jordan on Sunday and was the first Arab MK officially invited to visit the Jordanian parliament.
“All of the ministers in the Palestinian government support the two-state solution, while on the other hand, no minister in the Israeli government supports the establishment of a Palestinian state,” the deputy Knesset speaker told the Jordanian parliament.
Therefore, he continued, “The chances of an agreement between the two countries with the government of [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu is close to zero.”
Regarding the West Bank, the Ta’al party MK asserted that the Palestinian Authority actually has no control there and that the IDF enters wherever it desires.
The military’s civil administration has real control on the ground, he added.
Tibi also thanked King Abdullah for his efforts regarding al-Aksa.
For their part, the Jordanian parliament members on the “Palestine” committee, condemned the continuing “occupation,” recounted Tibi.
They also stressed that Jordan continues to be responsible for the Aksa Mosque and the holy sites on the Temple Mount, which is agreed by all parties.
In September, Tibi, as part of the Jerusalem Committee, headed a delegation of five Joint List MKs that traveled to Jordan to meet with the king in order to discuss tensions over the Temple Mount. They continued on to Turkey where they met President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The delegation headed by Tibi, included Balad head Jamal Zahalka, Taleb Abu Arar (United Arab List), Aida Touma-Sliman (Hadash) and Osama Sa’adi (Ta’al).
“King Abdullah’s words were sharp and determined, and they showed his anger about what is occurring at al-Aksa and in Jerusalem,” Tibi had said at the time, adding that the king told the delegation he would take measures if the situation continued.
