La Paneria, a new kosher caf restaurant opened in Ra'anana by pastry chef Gil Ben Haim, offers a variety of homemade breads, delicate pastries and fresh salads. This is a lovely place to start the day with a rich and healthy breakfast, or to stop for lunch and enjoy tasty quiches, an array of pastas, or a good salad. The menu includes excellent sandwiches such as eggplant with pesto, cheese and coriander (NIS 28); pickled salmon, Dijon mustard, tomato and capers (NIS 31); or a health sandwich with herbed cream cheese, olive tapenade, tomato cucumbers and spring onions (NIS 28). Fresh and colorful salads like "La Paneria" - made up of baby greens, cherry tomatoes, red onion, corn, hard-boiled egg, sun-dried tomatoes and walnuts (NIS 32) - can be a treat as well, but the winning dishes are the mouthwatering homemade desserts, with a selection of strudels, cheesecakes, pecan and lemon pies, and rich chocolate cakes.
