This Monday and Tuesday, the Israeli Chamber Orchestra concludes its season with what promises to be the most pleasurable program of the year. Impressario, a one-act comic opera by Mozart, is staged by a team of talented Israeli artists - sopranos Maria Kabelsky and Sivan Goldman and tenor Guy Manheimm, director Julia Pevzner (who also arranged the piece and created the costumes), stage designer Alexander Lisiansky and lighting designer Hadas Eilon. Veteran actor Gad Kynar also participates in the new production.
The concert program also features the world premiere of Michael Wolpe's "Ballade for violin & chamber orchestra," "Serenade for violin & orchestra" by Bernstein, and four songs by Gershwin, arranged by Arie Bar-Droma. In this part of the concert, young American violinist Jonathan Magness will make his debut with the Israeli Orchestra. Gil Shohat conducts.
The concerts take place at Heichal haTarbut in Petah Tikva July 10 Monday 8:30 p.m. and at the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m. the next day.
