Tel Aviv streets to host music day

The idea behind the celebration is to flood the streets with free music that everyone can enjoy.

The 26-year-old French tradition of bringing music to the streets on "International Music Day" will hit Tel Aviv on Thursday for the third year in a row. Participating in the festivities, which will begin at 8 p.m., are Hadag Nahash, Noam Rotem, Rafi Persky, Leah Shabbat, France's Elzef and Monterno, along with a list of other well-known and less-known local and international performers. The idea behind the celebration is to flood the streets with free music that everyone can enjoy. Seven stages will be set up around the city and will offer French, African, Mediterranean, Oriental, opera, rock and jazz music.
