Just after 1:00 a.m., United Hatzalah volunteer EMS first responders Yitzchak Rottner and Yaakov Mazoz were called to a medical emergency that took place in an apartment near their respective homes. A woman had fainted and needed medical attention. The dedicated EMS volunteers arrived within three minutes at the home of the patient and treated her until the ambulance arrived.
When the woman’s husband went with her to the hospital in the ambulance, the volunteers stayed and babysat the couple’s two children, ages 3.5 and 2, for two hours until their grandfather could arrive at the family’s home.
“These volunteers showed exceptional sensitivity to the needs of their patient,” said President and Founder of United Hatzalah, Eli Beer. “To babysit the children, in turn allowing the husband to accompany the wife to the hospital is not an easy thing to take on one’s self, especially during the small hours of the night. Their actions allowed this woman to receive the best medical treatment shew could without worrying about what was happening back home. As any parent will tell you, that peace of mind is invaluable. All I can say on behalf of the organization, to Rottner and Mazoz is: Thank you for your dedication and commitment to helping others.”
