Nothing's smartphones are not at the very high price point, and now the British tech startup has a smartphone at a lower price - Phone (2a).

The startup announced it today (Tuesday) at a price starting from NIS 1,350 for the version that includes a storage capacity of 128 gigabytes and a working memory (RAM) of 8 gigabytes.

A more expensive version costs NIS 1,570 and includes a storage capacity of 256 gigabytes and 12 gigabytes of memory. The pre-sale that starts today (Wednesday) at the official importer - Bug Network, includes CMF Buds Pro headphones as a gift. The smartphone is expected to reach buyers as early as March 12.

The Phone (2a) also comes with the retro design that characterizes the company's products, which includes a transparent back, lighting that turns on in different areas and rhythms (Nothing calls it Glyph) and with the interface designed in dark tones. In order to distinguish the new model from the rest of the company's smartphones, it designed the camera array reminiscent of a pair of eyes. She placed the cameras inside the NFC coil to create this structure, which she says makes the device more resistant to falls.

Nothing phone (2a): new widgets

The operating system on the device is Android 14, which is covered with the Nothing OS 2.5 interface with 3 years of software updates and 4 years of security updates.

In the new version - 2.5, more designed widgets were added with slides and animations for additional levels of information and interactions on the home screen. For example, a new recorder widget that allows users to create voice memos on the fly. There's also an AI-powered wallpaper studio that allows you to customize wallpapers for your home and lock screen.

The smartphone's screen is 6.7 inches in high-quality AMOLED technology that offers rich colors and there is also a screen refresh rate of 120 Hz, for smooth movement in the interface. For a lighting screen of 1300 nits, which should allow it to be viewed in direct sunlight.

The processor here is MediaTek's Dimensity 7200 Pro which was designed together with Nothing in order to improve its performance and optimize energy consumption. The camera includes two 50 megapixel sensors, the main one with an optical image stabilizer and the second one for a wide 114 degree shot. The selfie camera comes with a 32 megapixel sensor.

The battery comes in a large capacity of 5000 mAh, where it should retain over 90% of its maximum capacity after 1,000 charge cycles, roughly three years of daily charging. The device supports charging at 45 watts, not as fast as the smartphones of some Chinese manufacturers. Nothing does not include a charger in the kit, but if you buy one, you should charge 50% energy in 20 minutes. No wireless charging.
