It's hard to put your finger on what makes a city so popular with travelers. It can be related to a rich culture, history, a developed food scene, or in general a lively nightlife. Usually, if you ask us, it's a combination of all the things. What is important is to have a varied offer.

Now, Telegraph readers, have sorted through the wide range for us and chosen their 10 favorite destinations across Europe, Africa, Australia, the Far East and North America. Spoiler: we're not there. Who did enter the list of favorites, both cities such as Porto, Lisbon, Krakow, Prague and Tallinn.

10: Dubrovnik

The Croatian city has become one of the most touristic cities in the country. Some attribute her sudden success to "Game of Thrones" raising the profile of her walls and fortifications, so much so that she became an Instagram obsession. Dubrovnik is a pearl in the Adriatic Sea, and it offers amazing views, developing cuisine, cultural sites and more.

9: Kyoto

Although the road to Kyoto is not the most convenient, for Israelis and Europeans, the city still managed to make it to the top ten. The Japanese city is known for its stunning cherry blossoms, and as the cultural center of the country. Kyoto was established in 794 AD as the religious capital of Japan and has many temples and attractions.

8. Sydney

This is not the first and certainly not the last time that Australia's most legendary city enters the top 10. The city with its summer climate and amazing beaches never ceases to attract visitors. Besides beaches, its prominent attractions are: the Harbor Bridge, Darling Harbour, the Opera House, the Olympic Park and the AMP observation tower.

7. Rio de Janeiro

The Brazilian city is on the map, not least due to its position as its perfect location, surrounded by rainforests and mountains. It is also a well-known destination for crazy parties, the seasonal carnival every February and the perfect bathing beaches. One of its most photographed attractions is the Christ statue on the Corcovado mountain. Also the Sugar Mountain and for football fans also the Markana Stadium.

6. Florence

It turns out that the readers of the Telegraph "rediscovered" Italy in the last four years, not only that Italy was chosen by them more than once as one of their favorite countries. There are three Italian cities that entered the list, and Pirca is one of them. Florence is a suitable destination for a long weekend, where you can enjoy the beauty of the Renaissance, Brunelleschi's epic dome, the Arno River and more.

5. Rome

The Italian capital city never ceases to charm travelers. Rome is an ideal destination for an urban vacation that combines history, rich architecture and delightful cuisine. The Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona and the many churches are just some of the attractions that attract visitors. Add to that gelato, good wine and carbohydrates - and there are none of us happier.

4. Vancouver

The Canadian city surpassed its neighbors in the USA and entered the fourth place on the list. The city full of bars and restaurants has become in recent years a metropolis that intrigues travelers. You will find the famous Stanley Park, the aquarium and Granville Island.

3. Seville

The capital of Andalusia has once again entered the list of the readers of the Telegraph, as one of the ten favorite cities of travelers. It has actually been shortlisted in every edition of the Telegraph Travel Awards since 2013. The Spanish city is a special city - where the Moorish era echoes in the Alcázar and the Giralda, modern Spain smiles in the bars and markets of the burgeoning Triana, and the whole scene is on display from elevated walkways. The not bad weather also contributes to the matter.

2. Venice

Venice is the third Italian city to make the list. This is not surprising, because Venice always makes the list. Venice is a romantic city, where you can wander the alleys, go on a gondola ride in the city canals, wander the markets, eat and drink in almost every corner. Besides, the city also attracts visitors with the traditional mask festival.

1. Cape Town

Cape Town is an extraordinary city, glittering at the edge of the African continent on the rugged ridge of Table Mountain. It is rich in landscapes and luxury resorts. Cape Town is a gateway to many successful wineries. Of course, it also has a lively nightlife (relative to South Africa), interesting museums, fascinating neighborhoods and perfect beaches.
