MyHeritage, an Israeli tech company, developed revolutionary information cross-matching algorithms and a global platform for discovering, preserving, and sharing family history. Initially housed in a historic Templar building in Bnei Atarot, founder Gilad Japhet turned to Auerbach Halevy Architects to design new offices in a modern office building in Or Yehuda, marking the beginning of a remarkable collaboration.
Over a decade, MyHeritage expanded continuously, annexing additional wings, with Auerbach Halevy Architects leading the way. Recently, the company inaugurated its third wing, now occupying nearly 5,000 square meters.
The project posed unique challenges for the architects. They needed to blend with the company's historical roots while dialoguing with their previous work in the same workspace. Moreover, MyHeritage resides in a modern office building, complicating the narrative.
The evolution unfolded on two fronts: subtle material upgrades and advanced architectural solutions post-pandemic. Professor Uri Halevy, partner at Auerbach Halevy Architects, explains the intricate process of designing office space as an extension of existing workspaces, emphasizing maintaining continuity while embracing innovation.
In the first wing, built 11 years ago, the old-world ambiance persisted, accentuated by white bricks and natural wood, characteristic of the surrounding landscape. In the second phase in 2018, a new vibrancy emerged, as existing elements intertwined with fresh colors, continuing the legacy seamlessly.
Urban Levy Architects recently completed their third meeting with MyHeritage, expanding by 800 square meters for approximately 50 additional employees. They aimed to preserve the original cozy atmosphere while infusing contemporary design trends, achieving harmony by integrating new shades of bricks with metal accents, reminiscent of a loft, and subtle nods to the local landscape.
At the heart of the office lies a nucleus of meeting rooms, enveloped by individual offices and a series of one-on-one meeting rooms. The central stages boast lounge areas and kitchens, inviting both formal meetings and informal gatherings in a relaxed atmosphere.
In addition to the refreshed design, Urban Levy Architects incorporated the CEO's passion for historical art and reproductions, aligning with MyHeritage's domain, adding depth and uniqueness to the space meticulously.
