70 residents don't show up for work at Haifa's Rambam

Some 70 out of 120 medical residents at Haifa's Rambam Medical Center did not show up for work Monday morning. The residents had previously tendered their resignations but had agreed to postpone quitting as negotiations with the Health and Finance Ministries continued.
Additionally, a number of residents did not show up for work at Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba. Heavy delays were reported in the pediatrics division due to the medical residents not arriving.
Following a meeting last week with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, technically the acting health minister, residents had agreed to postpone their resignations until Monday.
In light of the resignations, Rambam Medical Center cut back services Monday, limiting the emergency room to urgent cases only.
