The body of a six-year-old boy was found in a Herzliya apartment on Tuesday, police said, in what it termed a suspected murder.
There were signs of violence on the body, the police added.
Boy's mother suspected of having committed the murder
The suspicion is that the boy was murdered by his mother, who, after the murder, was seen in the city's Seven Stars Mall holding an ax and threatening the security guard at the entrance.
The boy's grandmother, who arrived at the house, found him after the mother was arrested.
A dog with stab marks was also found dead in the house.
