Border patrol officer wounded in Mea She'arim riots

A border patrol officer was lightly injured by rocks during rioting that broke out in Jerusalem's Mea She'arim neighborhood on Sunday, after four haredi men were arrested there on suspicion of planning to interfere with an archaeological dig near the Galilee town of Tzipori.
Mobs of haredi men also threw rocks and debris at a Border Police jeep, damaging the vehicle in response to the arrests.
Later in the afternoon, rocks were also lobbed at private vehicles and buses in the area, leading authorities to shut down public transportation in parts of the neighborhood.
Groups of haredim have been protesting an Israel Antiquities Authority dig at the site of a burial cave discovered near Tzipori, where the protesters say they fear the excavations will disturb what are believed to be ancient tombs.
