Comptroller investigating adviser to Finance Minister Lapid

State Comptroller Joseph Shapira is investigating Finance Minister Yair Lapid's inclusion of Brig. Gen. (res.) Hillel Koberniski in key Finance Ministry meetings and decisions in recent months, Channel 2 reported late Monday night.
Koberniski has already been called Lapid's closest adviser and participated in major ministerial meetings, despite not being a Finance Ministry employee, said the report.
Lapid's spokesman said that, "the appointment of Koberniski was approved according to law."
The report quoted the spokesman continuing and stating, "he is a member of an advisory committee to the finance minister, and his appointment was approved, by the attorney-general, among others."
Shapira's spokesman said, "the matter has been transferred for a preliminary investigation to the head of the relevant division" in the Comptroller's office, the report said.
