Construction of nearly 350 residential units approved in east Jerusalem

Amid contentious ongoing peace negotiations, the Jerusalem Municipality’s Committee for Planning and Building approved nearly 350 housing units Wednesday to be constructed in Jewish settlements in three east Jerusalem neighborhood.
Of the 349 apartments approved to be built, 223 are planned for Har Homa, 102 for Neve Yaakov, and 24 in Pisgat Zeev, which will be housed in six-to-10 story residential buildings beyond the Green Line.
In a statement to local media, Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Pepe Alalu (Meretz) patently condemned the announcement as a cynical attempt to derail a final status agreement.
