Finance Minister Yair Lapid and Agriculture Minister Yair Shamir approved a reduction in egg prices by an average of 3.3 percent on Wednesday, a decision that will lead to a price decrease of about 3.6 agorot for each egg. The ministers made the decision following the recommendations of a joint pricing committee of their two ministries. While the prices and the exact reductions vary according to the weight and size of the eggs, a carton containing a dozen size large eggs will as of Thursday cost NIS 12.50, compared to the NIS 12.90 price today. The price reduction signifies increased efficiency in egg production, as well as an effort to reduce the cost of living for the Israeli middle class, the ministers said.
