Egged to face disciplinary action

The Director-general of the Ministry of Transport rejected the internal investigation by Egged into the harassment and segregation of a female passenger.
Uzi Yitzhak, the director-general of the Ministry, ordered to open disciplinary action against the Egged Cooperation after a driver refused to intervene in the harassment of a religious female student who insisted on sitting in the front of the bus. Yitzhak refused to accept the internal investigation conducted by Egged, and noted that the driver was unaware of the regulations requiring him to intervene in cases of harassment and segregation. The Ministry of Transport plans to release a general statement to public transportation operators that will emphasize their responsibility to implement all of the relevant regulations in such cases.
Egged commented in response that the cooperative upholds all of the guidelines outlined by the High Court of Justice and the regulations put forth by the Ministry of Transport relating to the segregation of women on buses. The Cooperative is certain that the Ministry of Transport's investigation will reveal that their internal inquiry was in compliance with regulations.
