Israel's 2010 population: 7,577,000

On the eve of Yom Haatzmaut 2010, Israel's population numbers 7,577,000, according to data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics on Sunday.

Seventy-five percent of Israel's residents were found to be Jews, while 20.5 percent were found to be Arabs..

The high figure was contrasted with the population of Israel in 1948, which stood at 806,000.

During the past year, 159,000 babies were born; 25,000 olim and Israelis living abroad arrived in the country, while 10,000 Israelis left.
