Residents quitting may cause deaths, Rambam doctor warns

Speaking ahead of an expected press conference by medical residents, Rambam Medical Center director of orthopedics Dr. Doron Norman slammed the Finance Ministry's handling of the labor crisis on Monday but also warned that a mass resignation by residents will likely lead to deaths of patients.
"The Treasury pushed the residents with [their] backs to the wall," Dr. Norman told Army Radio. In a warning to the public amid the labor dispute, he added, "I suggest not coming to the emergency room - people are likely to remain crippled or to die as a result of the wrong treatment."
