False rocket alerts sounded in southern Ashkelon, Sderot and the nearby Sapir Academic College and the Gaza border communities of Ibim, Mavki’im, Nir Am, Zikim, Mefalsim, Yad Mordechai, Karmia and Netiv Ha’asara on Monday.
IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi was seen rushing out of the state memorial service for former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin after receiving a note.
According to the IDF, the rocket alerts were a 'human error' and the circumstances are under examination. The IDF spokesperson also added no damage was done to the operational capability of the rocket alert systems.
