Self-proclaimed former mob boss Yossi Harari was arrested with three others overnight Monday on suspicion of extorting a businessman.
Harari, said to have been the head of the Ramat Amidar crime organization, was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment in 2000 for attempted murder, threats, and extortion.
However, since his release, he has insisted that he has reformed and is a legitimate businessman.
The four suspects were set for a remand extension hearing at the Ramle Magistrate's Court on Tuesday morning.
Details of the businessman they allegedly extorted were not released.
