Stormy weather accompanied a major overhaul to Jerusalem buses on Friday, which affected two dozen bus lines mostly in the southwestern part of the city. Despite the torrential downpours, 30,000 people traveled on the new system. The changes are focused on shorter bus lines that feed into the light rail, utilizing multiple transfers rather than longer bus lines. The light rail is running approximately every 8 minutes. When the traffic lights are updated to give the light rail preference at intersections the light rail will run every 4.5 minutes, but that is still a number of months away.
