Israel aims to boost Azerbaijan trade

Exports to Azerbaijan grew by over 100 percent to $27.3 million in 2006, the IEI said, while imports grew 75% to $700,000. There are currently 99 Israeli companies with operations in Azerbaijan, 11% more than a year ago.

The Israel Exports Institute hosted a dinner with Azerbaijan Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev and 10 Israeli companies Tuesday evening as part of the government's efforts to strengthen trade ties with the country. The Institute said it was looking to boost exports to Azerbaijan this year and that the Israeli companies presented their opportunities in the fields of infrastructure, communications, finance, agriculture, energy and environment at the dinner.
