On days like these, kids need homemade, tasty, and warm food; otherwise, they end up with a menu that doesn’t do them any favors. This pot was crowned a huge success among my daughters – chicken drumsticks cooked together with ptitim, olive oil, tomatoes, garlic, oregano, and olives.

Ingredients

For 4 servings

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 chopped onion

3 chopped garlic cloves

6 chicken drumsticks

1 1/2 cups ptitim

1 tablespoon paprika

1 tablespoon dried oregano

2 tablespoons tomato paste

2 cups boiling water

Salt and ground black pepper

10 halved cherry tomatoes

1/2 cup sliced green olives

Preparation

1. Heat a pot with olive oil and fry the onion and garlic with the drumsticks until nicely golden on all sides. Remove the drumsticks from the pot.

2. Add the ptitim and brown them while stirring. Season with paprika, oregano, and tomato paste, stir with a wooden spoon, and return the drumsticks to the pot.

3. Pour in boiling water, season with salt and pepper, and add tomatoes and olives. Cover and cook for half an hour on low heat until you smell the ptitim starting to stick to the bottom (you can turn it off earlier, but this way it’s the tastiest).
