Here is a product that reminds us why sometimes we are willing to pay outrageous sums for a product that you can technically buy similar ones to for NIS 19.90, if you just go with the perception that the skin from the neck down also deserves oligarch treatment. Body cream is an understated definition for the experience – the product from Sisley’s iconic black rose series is seriously addictive. The texture is exactly the point where lotion meets a cream rich enough to treat the skin, thin enough so you won’t have to wait a quarter of an hour in your underwear in the bedroom until it absorbs, before you manage to squeeze into your jeans. The skin gets that healthy glow and the scent is the classic Sisley rose, but not the cheap kind, rather a noble and deep rose that will make you give up perfume and sniff yourself all day. A worthwhile and decadent indulgence.
Sisley, black rose body lotion – NIS 653.
The new sculpting: Dermalogica do not stop at the jawline and remind us that sometimes the neck and décolletage also require an urgent team meeting. The Dynamic Skin Sculptor promises to treat first world problems and restore elasticity to areas where the skin begins to look a little less firm. A tester who persisted reports a fresh serum, an immediate feeling of gentle tightening and a certain upgrade in skin texture within a few weeks. Here too the texture is light and absorbs at record speed – critical for anyone who does not have time for a long ritual with every application. Not cheap, but manages to gather and lift areas that a regular body cream simply does not.
Dermalogica, Dynamic Skin Sculptor – NIS 480.
What’s good for Kim K is good for us too. We took Bio Oil’s oil for a spin, which promises to treat scars and stretch marks. This is truly a dry oil, that absorbs quickly and does not leave the feeling of a visit to the fryer. It has a delicate and perfect scent, works wonderfully as a daily body oil for dry skin and even as an addition of a few drops to the bath. To correct imperfections, you need to go the distance with it and not expect a miracle overnight. Those who persist will be rewarded with improved skin elasticity and blurring of stretch marks.
Bio Oil, NIS 71 for 60 ml.
Lavido, the local natural and organic brand that Dani Avdija made when Gwyneth Paltrow adopted it for GOOP, continues to make us proud and enters the strict Clean Beauty list of the Sephora chain; A marking for clean, high quality and safe to use products, without artificial colors and fragrances and without ingredients that endanger the skin. On the occasion of the launch of the much needed Clean Beauty category here as well, we tested new Lavido products that are now also accessible at Super-Pharm: The new hyaluronic acid serum, vegan and hypoallergenic of course, was marked by a tester who avoids serums, as especially successful – a boost of effective moisture, that leaves the skin saturated and flexible in exactly the right measure without suffocating it; The cleansing balm, with a buttery texture that turns into oil and a crazy good scent, thoroughly cleansed layers of sunscreen and makeup, without drying the skin.
Lavido, hyaluronic acid serum – NIS 200 for 30 ml, cleansing balm – NIS 150 for 90 ml.
After the pleasant time we had in the worlds of luxury, it is time to talk about the responsible adult in your bathroom. In recent months we sampled several products from the French dermo cosmetic brand Uriage. It is based on thermal water from the French Alps, fragrance free and manages to do what even luxury brands sometimes forget – treat the skin without irritating it. We especially liked: The micellar water that thoroughly yet gently removes all the grime, including from the eyes, without leaving the skin sticky; The successful shower oil that works wonders for dry skin including that of the tiniest children in the household, the excellent repairing face cream from the cica daily series, that soothes, strengthens and on difficult days became a day cream, night cream and everything in between. And also the effective roll-on deodorant, that made it pleasant for the underarm and the neighbors at the office. Less successful in our opinion is the two phase eye makeup remover, that leaves a thin oily layer and also burns a little with delay. Uriage may not photograph the best and its design is the most classic dermo cosmetic – hi La roche pose, you have a twin, but we will definitely return to it because it simply works. For anyone looking for industrial quiet and practical results at a very reasonable price.
Uriage, NIS 40-190.
VOS in Ramat Aviv – an opportunity to touch and inhale the very beautiful and very pleasant products of the Israeli brand, now also in a pop up in Tel Aviv that will operate until the end of the month, and not only in the store in Beit Yitzhak (or on the website). A summary of previous episodes for anyone who has not had the chance to meet the brand: VOS was born out of a personal need of Vered Ornstein Slutsky, after she developed an allergy to industrial cosmetics. The result is a growing line of clean products that she concocts herself, from excellent raw materials, in beautiful packaging and scents that are a world of emotions.
Our favorites: A lifting cream that works magic. When you feel like feeling organized with minimal effort, this is the one. It gathers the face, the skin looks healthy, even and illuminated and all this without a drop of makeup; A restorative night cream, that is like a hug for the face at the end of the day, and of course – any product in the scent of rose water powder that you can get your hands on. The brand’s best seller can be found in a candle, in an essential oil, an aromatherapeutic perfume, hand soap, shampoo and also a moisturizing and gentle liquid facial soap. Does it not feel strange to cleanse your face with such a fragrant soap? At first, yes. After the first use it is hard to stop.
Day and night creams: Starting from NIS 195, active serums and lifting cream starting from NIS 255.
