A Palestinian vehicle broke through a security checkpoint north of Jerusalem on Tuesday, escaping a civilian security guard's gunfire and continuing toward the capital, police said.
A security guard at the al-Zaim checkpoint fired four bullets at the Mitsubishi after it failed to heed instructions to stop.
The gunfire failed to stop the vehicle, which continued to travel toward Jerusalem.
The vehicle hit two security guards while it was fleeing, lightly injuring them. MDA paramedics treated the wounded men.
Security forces were searching the area for the vehicle.
In July of last year, Border Police officers shot dead a Palestinian attempting to break through the same checkpoint.
According to the Border Police the man attempted to run down the officers, giving them no choice, but to shoot.
