UK Your Party leader Jeremy Corbyn is hosting a phone bank with the New York City Democratic Socialists of America (NYC DSA) on Monday to appeal to voters on behalf of mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.
The online Zoom event with the former UK Labour Party member is set to have volunteers call New Yorkers to convince them to vote for the Democratic candidate, according to the event’s webpage.
“Every conversation pushes us closer to winning a better New York,” wrote the NYC DSA.
Jeremy Corbyn wants 'a New York that’s affordable for all'
Corbyn said on social media that he was hosting the phone bank to “get Zohran over the finish line for a New York that’s affordable for all!”
Advertisements for the event featuring Corbyn stated that Zohran paid for them for the NYC campaign.
Mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo said on X/Twitter on Sunday that having Corbyn help in Mamdani’s campaign revealed “everything you need to know.”
Corbyn was “someone whose party was found to have committed unlawful acts of discrimination against Jewish people under his leadership,” Cuomo said on X, adding that New York does not need politics of moral compromise.
“We need leadership that rejects antisemitism, extremism, and division in every form and in every corner,” he said.
Corbyn was dismissed from the Labour Party in 2020 after the UK Equality and Human Rights Commission reported that his party had failed to address antisemitism in its ranks.
