The singer posted an image of herself lying in bed in a pink satin bra on Monday night, with the caption: “9th of Av. This is a Day to stay inside.
Lay low. Keep Quiet.” She did not mention if she would also be fasting on the day that commemorates the destruction of the first and second Jewish Temple.

Madonna is not Jewish, but she has long dabbled in Kabbala, the mystical Jewish discipline. In a 2015 interview, Madonna said she observes many practices, but she doesn’t identify with any one religion.
“I don’t affiliate myself with any specific religious group,” she told Irish Independent. “I connect to different ritualistic aspects of different belief systems, and I see the connecting thread between all religious beliefs. I have not converted to Judaism. I’ve studied Kabbala, as you know, for many years, so there are a lot of things I do that one would associate with practicing Judaism.
“I hear the Torah every Saturday. I observe Shabbat. I say certain prayers.
My son was bar mitzvahed. So this appears like I’m Jewish, but these rituals are connected to what I describe as the Tree of Life consciousness and have more to do with the idea of being an Israelite, not Jewish,” she clarified.
A few weeks ago, Madonna posted an Instagram photo of the inside of a synagogue, writing “Know in front of whom you stand. Shabbat shalom!” – the English translation of the inscription in the photo. The singer regularly wishes her followers a Shabbat shalom through the social media platform.
