New York choirs celebrate Hebrew with Arik Einstein's music
The Council for Hebrew Language and Culture in North America organized the gathering as part of the "The Hebrew Choir Festival 2019" to honor the Hebrew language.

Choirs from six Jewish and Hebrew charter schools in New York sang together on Monday to honor iconic Israeli singer Arik Einstein and celebrate the Hebrew language. Einstein is possibly one of Israel's most popular and critically acclaimed artist and was a pioneer of Israeli rock.The Council for Hebrew Language and Culture in North America organized the gathering as part of the "The Hebrew Choir Festival 2019" to honor the Hebrew language.“Teaching and promoting Hebrew among Jews in North America and the world is the most powerful way to bring together Jews from all over the world and create a global Jewish community,” said Rabbi Andrew Ergas, chairman of the board of the Council for Hebrew Language and Culture in North America.“Hebrew language and culture have been crucial parts of Jewish identity for centuries and our goal is to bring Jews together by reintroducing them to their Hebrew roots. Teaching Hebrew to Americans of all backgrounds is a sure way to show concretely the vibrancy and humanity of Israeli life and culture.”The event was part of a month-long festival featuring arts and educational events to demonstrate the beauty of the Hebrew language.The choirs that took part in the event were the Kinneret Day School Choir, the HLA2 Choir Club, the Ramaz Lower School and Middle School Choirs, the Hebrew Language Academy Select Choir and the Harlem Hebrew Choir.
