Disease control chief: Insufficent budget for cancer research

Following the announcement Monday that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, Prof. Manfred Green, head of the Health Ministry's National Center for Disease Control, said that there was an insufficient budget for cancer research in Israel. "Two million shekels for such research is not serious," said Green. "I know it doesn't sound good, but there is no cancer research institute in Israel," he continued. Green went on to say that Israel needed to "change its approach to the subject."
