6 dead, 6 remain missing after boat from Indonesia capsizes in Malaysia

Police say an Indonesian boat with 14 people on board has sunk in Malaysian waters. They say six of the passengers have drowned and six more are missing. Police officer Muhammed Shamsuddin says rescuers are searching for survivors from the small boat that sank Sunday in bad weather off southern Johor state. The two survivors are a 40-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, both Indonesians. They were picked up from a beach Tuesday. Muhammed says the dead include one child. Police were investigating Wednesday whether all passengers were Indonesians and whether they were trying to enter Malaysia without permission. Many Indonesians cross the waterway between the two countries in small boats and ferries to work illegally.
