Russia and Ukraine have carried out another prisoner-of-war exchange, Russia's state TASS news agency reported on Thursday, citing an unnamed source.
"Russia has returned a group of Russian servicemen from the territory controlled by Kyiv, and in exchange, soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been transferred," the Russian Defence Ministry reported.
Both sides exchanged the same number of prisoners, but there was no word on how many soldiers were involved, the state RIA news agency said.
Exchange of prisoners of war
In early June, Russia and Ukraine carried out an exchange of prisoners of war involving POWs under the age of 25 and others who had been severely wounded.
The exchange, announced by both sides, was the result of direct talks in Istanbul on June 2 that resulted in an agreement to conduct an exchange of at least 1,200 POWs on each side and to repatriate thousands of bodies of those killed in the war.
