US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are "strong leaders who seek peace and stability," Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham said in an X/Twitter post on Wednesday, expressing his support for their ongoing efforts in the Middle East.

"President Trump has proven, in my view, to be the most consequential commander-in-chief since Reagan," he said, "and he is moving toward a series of accomplishments that can reset the world for the better."

"As to Prime Minister Netanyahu, his life experiences and deep understanding of the region have prepared him to be a good counsel and partner to President Trump."

Graham said he was pleased about the productive meeting between the two leaders, particularly regarding "the Iranian threat". He also highlighted Israel's strong alliance with the US and wished that God grant both the "wisdom and determination" to pursue light and stand firm against "the forces of darkness."

Trump insistent on diplomacy with Iran

Trump and Netanyahu met in the White House on Wednesday to discuss Tehran's military buildup, possible strikes on Iran, and post-war Gaza management.

The meeting lasted three hours, two more than the scheduled time, and was the seventh meeting between the two since Trump returned to office last year.

Trump insisted that negotiations with Iran should continue "to see whether or not a deal can be consummated," making it clear that diplomacy is preferred, although uncertain.

Netanyahu warned that in the event of a US strike on Iran, the regime's ballistic missile project should also be targeted.

“The Prime Minister emphasized the security needs of the State of Israel in the context of the negotiations, and the two agreed to continue close coordination and maintain direct communication,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement issued after the meeting.
