Swedish and Finnish fighter jets were scrambled to intercept and identify Russian military aircraft in international airspace over the Gulf of Finland on Thursday, the Finnish Air Force said in a statement on X/Twitter on Friday.
"Finnish and Swedish Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) fighter jets were scrambled to intercept and identify Russian military aircraft in international airspace over the Gulf of Finland on 24 September 2026," the statement explained.
"This was the first joint [Finnish-Swedish] operational identification mission.
