Australian soldier killed by improvised explosive in Afghanistan

An Australian soldier was killed and three soldiers were wounded by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan, an official said Wednesday. Signaler Sean McCarthy, 25, who was killed while on patrol Tuesday in Uruzgan province, was the sixth Australian soldier to die in Afghanistan, Australia's defense head Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston said. The three wounded included two Australians and a soldier from another allied country which Houston did not name.
